Back in 2004, Marc Voyer and Jean Bérubé formed a partnership called VAB Solutions, Inc. Both men were former directors and engineers at Optifor Inc., the first provider of lineal grading optimizers for planer mills in North America. With their formal training as engineers, they were able to bring their love of technology and process to add value to sawmill operations in Canada and the US.
Mr. Voyer and Mr. Bérubé have always been committed to bringing the best technology to the sawmill industry. That’s why they recruited the best timber technology innovators and engineers in the business. They formed a team at VAB Solutions that takes sawmill profitability as seriously as their own.
As a further commitment to giving the industry the best in sawmill technology, they invest heavily each year in Research and Development. They listen closely to their customers and develop new, innovative products to maximize recovery, reduce downtime and ensure accuracy. VAB’s close-knit team of engineers work quickly to launch the most accurate and reliable sawmill technology products in the market. They use proprietary technology, which allows them to keep your prices fair and competitive while giving you a short payback period for your investment.
After a long-standing relationship of providing the best technology products to
Baxley Equipment, a
Timber Automation Division in the southeast US, both companies saw benefits of a more official and permanent partnership. In April 2018, Timber Automation formally purchased VAB Solutions, adding the technology innovator to its solidly performing group of woodyard and sawmill equipment manufacturers. “We have trusted the reliability and accuracy of VAB technology for years, regularly recommending our clients use their products. Knowing they hold similar values of quality, value and commitment to their customers, made this decision an easy one,” says John Steck, President, Timber Automation.
The VAB team believes sawmills deserve to have the best technology to provide their own customers with the highest value lumber. “Partnering with a strong brand like Timber Automation and their well-known divisions Baxley and
LogPro, will allow us to quickly bring our valuable technology to sawmills all over the US,” states Mr. Bérubé.
VAB Solutions location will remain in Lévis on the South Shore of Québec City, while Timber Automation is headquartered in Hot Springs, Arkansas, with a manufacturing location in Baxley, GA. VAB will continue delivering solutions in Québec, Ontario, the Maritimes, Western Canada and now all over the USA.
