COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

VAB, A Timber Automation Company, is made aware of COVID-19 and its increasing impact on people and on the global economic situation. VAB is monitoring developments closely and we are updating our response plans as directed by the Public Health Agency of Canada. We take steps to protect the health and well-being of our employees and business partners.

Access control for visitors and external suppliers to VAB sites / offices

From March 16, 2020, and until further notice, here are the main lines of the measures implemented in our establishments that affect our visitors and external suppliers.

  1. Stop unnecessary visits to VAB sites / offices by external suppliers until further notice.
  2. Procedure for truckers, deliverers:
    • VAB will provide hand sanitizing stations in truckers’ waiting rooms or areas.
    • VAB will display the measures to be applied to reduce the spread of the virus and how to perform an effective hand wash

If the trucker or other person assigned to the delivery must contact VAB personnel directly, the personnel must request the following questions:

If the answer is positive for one of the last two points, we will require the trucker to stay in his vehicle while VAB personnel takes care of the goods to be loaded or removed from the truck.  We will also invite the trucker to get tested as soon as possible.

If a VAB technician visits a customer site

From March 16, 2020, until further notice, below are the precautions taken

Refusal of service employee to perform the service at the mill. 

Once at the Mill, the VAB technician can leave the site (with the approval of his manager) if he finds that the protective measures put in place are inferior to the internal policy of the mill and / or the public health agencies.
